LinuxWorld OpenSolutions Summit Starts Today

Just a reminder that the LinuxWorld OpenSolutions Summit starts today. This unique event will provide attendees with exclusive insight into the open source deployment experiences of their peers. LinuxWorld OpenSolutions Summit takes place in New York City, February 14-15, 2007, at the New York Marriott Marquis.

During the conference attendees will network with their peers and learn from their experiences – mistakes and successes - through revealing case studies. The conference will also feature in-depth technical presentations by leading Linux and open source experts, and a Sponsor Showcase where sponsors will display the latest Linux and open source products and technologies.

“The most valuable aspect of this conference for attendees are the case study presentations because they will provide real examples of open source implementations by innovative companies,” said Melinda Kendall, vice president, LinuxWorld. “Hearing about the experiences of those who have already been there is a reliable way to receive information. If attendees can learn about what worked and what didn’t, what obstacles were faced and how they were overcome, the transition will be that much easier when considering an open source deployment.”

The conference will commence with a Keynote address from internationally-renowned security technologist and author Bruce Schneier on Tuesday, February 14, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Schneier’s presentation, entitled “The Economics of Information Security,” will address the hot and rapidly growing field of research focusing on economics and computer security. Additional keynotes will be delivered by Debra Anderson, CIO at Novell, and Randy Allen, Corporate VP of the Server and Workstation Division at AMD.

In addition to provocative keynote addresses and revealing case study presentations, LinuxWorld OpenSolutions Summit offers more than 30 in-depth technical sessions across seven tracks, including Security, Applications and Best Practices, Linux on the Desktop, Network Management and Interoperability, Virtualization and Legal. Discussions will feature panelists and speakers from companies including Adobe Systems, Inc., Backcountry.com, Department of Defense, EMC, Free Standards Group, Google, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Inc. and many more.
