Global retailer's IT is blueprint for Open Source alliance

Sirius Corporation and Scalix have announced an alliance to promote the deployment of Open Source groupware solutions in European enterprises. The companies already share Specsavers Opticians Group as a major client, and are looking to use its integration of Open Source technologies as a template for similar enterprises.

The partnership will see Scalix's award winning e-mail and calendaring technologies incorporated into the Sirius Enterprise Stack.

The integration of Scalix's technologies into the Sirius Enterprise Stack will be complete during the third quarter of 2007, the companies said.

Mark Taylor, CEO at Sirius Corporation, said the partnership will "fill the gap in the complete Open Source stack."

Many of our client are crying out for a fully supported, feature-rich groupware solution that works with Microsoft Outlook without incurring the licensing fees of Microsoft Exchange. That's what Scalix delivers."

Scalix's vice president of sales EMEA, Jim Docherty, added that the partnership would bring "true enterprise-level support for our customers in the UK."
