Groundwork And Actuate To Deliver Industry's First Open Source It Management Reporting Framework

GroundWork Open Source, the leader in open source systems and network management software, has announced that it has purchased support from Actuate Corporation, the leader in Business Intelligence, Performance Management and Reporting Applications, to create the first Open Source reporting framework for IT infrastructure monitoring and management.

By integrating Eclipse BIRT Report Engine into GroundWork Monitor Professional, GroundWork is able to provide organisations a flexible framework for managing and reporting on IT Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Under the terms of the agreement, Actuate will support GroundWork developers using Actuate BIRT Report Designer Pro to develop detailed SLA reports that will be deployed with the open source Eclipse BIRT Report Engine within GroundWork Monitor Professional.

"GroundWork is excited to team with Actuate to offer detailed SLA reports and a framework specifically tailored to the needs of IT personnel," said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork Open Source. "As open source systems management software solves the key needs of mid-market organisations, customers continue to move away from the monolithic and proprietary IT management vendors towards these flexible open source alternatives like GroundWork Monitor Professional."

GroundWork Monitor Professional enables centralised monitoring of the entire IT infrastructure, including Linux, Unix, and Windows servers, applications, databases, and network equipment. Through integration of more than 100 best of breed open source technologies, GroundWork Monitor Professional offers an enterprise-class solution through features that include performance graphs, executive-level dashboards, and SLA business reports, all at a fraction of the cost of traditional IT system and network monitoring software.

"BIRT is a logical extension to GroundWork Monitor Professional because GroundWork's customers need clear accurate reports to give them added confidence in their business-critical applications," said Nobby Akiha, senior vice president of Marketing at Actuate. "We're excited to support GroundWork to ensure the design and development of compelling BIRT-based SLA reports for the GroundWork platform."
