Open Source Live! (OSL), a fast reaction training company, is delivering seminar for Java software developers who want quick, effective hands-on training and experience with the latest open source tools. The event occurs over the weekend of Nov. 16 - 18, 2007 in Portland, Oregon. Java experts on several sought-after tools for Java-related software development projects will deliver hands-on instruction to a limited group of registrants. The seminar is entitled Developing Lightweight Enterprise Java Applications.

Python Conference 2008

PyCon 2008, the sixth annual Python community conference, will be held in Chicago from March 14 to 16, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel. Business leaders, developers, and enthusiasts will gather for the largest and most comprehensive Python meeting in history. Python, the popular open source programming language that is increasingly seen as an alternative to Java, is currently used by thousands of organizations including Google, Industrial Light & Magic, iRobot, NASA, and YouTube.

This one-day conference and expo will be made up of speakers and hourly workshops. Booths featuring hardware vendors, software companies, services companies, and (of course) user groups will be on hand. This event is the largest free technology event in Calgary.

Sept 15 2007 is Software Freedom Day (SFD), a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). This celebration is to educate the worldwide public about of the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere! The non-profit company Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities.

Ohio LinuxFest 2007 Schedule Announced

Securing Open Source Code Event

The Open Solutions Alliance (OSA), a nonprofit, vendor-neutral consortium dedicated to driving interoperability and adoption of comprehensive open solutions, today announced the second event in its worldwide Customer Forum Series. OSA members JasperSoft and Palamida will co-host the Forum, “Secure Your Code: Enterprise Best Security Practices for Open Source Use,” scheduled for August 23, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in San Francisco at the Marriott Courtyard.
