SourceKibitzer became the largest database of Java Open Source measurements

According to the SourceKibitzer's management estimates, there are 5 000 active Open Source projects written in Java language out of 50 000 existing ones. For the moment the company has measured the projects of Apache, Codehaus, JBoss and ObjectWeb and counts more than 500 projects. In sum the database contains over 2,5 millions of measurements, this number increases by 100 000 new items each week. In all SourceKibitzer claims measuring 24 millions of lines of code.

Created a half of a year ago at the Baltic seaside, SourceKibitzer collects and measures programming metrics from Open Source projects all over the web in order to get an idea about the quality of code, member activity, development process and project size. The company limits itself to Java as SourceKibitzer developers made their careers in this field and they realize its possibilities. What is more important, this strategy enables to provide very detailed analysis specific to this language and maintain the largest database of Java metrics.

Parallel to the rapid growth of the database, SourceKibitzer is going to concentrate on enlargement of set of services concerning metrics and Open Source. “We are ready to help students with their thesis' and supply scientists with data for their researchers, - Mark Kofman, CEO of SourceKibitzer, says. - If clients of Open Source projects want to check the quality of developers' work, they are also welcome to turn to SourceKibitzer for a piece of advice. So far this all is for free”.

For Open Source developers themselves SourceKibitzer provides a possibility to answer the question, while having a pint: “ Why is he better than me?” Kibitzers advice you: “Just compare your code quality, project size and development speed with each other!” You may not believe, but Mark talks about Top 10, totalizators and competitions of the measured Open Source projects. All these available within next few months. It seems that SourceKibitzer prepares games for the real Open Source men.

To join the SourceKibitzer database, fill in a very simple “Kibitz me” form at www.sourcekibitzer.org and your favorite project will be measured within one business day. After that it will be regularly monitored and analyzed without additional inquiries.
